THE SKYSCRAPER CAMERA PROJECT

THE SKYSCRAPER CAMERA PROJECT

The Skyscraper Camera Project involved the transformation of the 46th floor of a skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan into multi lens camera obscura installation and the creation of ultra large format analogue photographic prints of the New York skyline. The images were created by using large rolls of photographic paper and developed in specially fabricated troughs to create giant paper negatives which were then contact printed into positive images using iPhone torches as makeshift rudimentary enlargers. Direct Positive paper was also used for some of the exposures. The work was assisted by young adults from Aperture Foundation & Red Hook Labs and the project was produced by Favourite Child Creative.
